BRISSEAU-MIRBEL, CHARLES FRANÇOIS Élémens de Physiologie Végétale et de Botanique.
Paris, Magimel 1815. 21 cm. 2 Bände und 1 Tafelband. 8, 470; (6), 450 (pag. 471-920), (112), 52 Seiten mit 72 (1 gefaltet und 1 koloriert) Kupfertafeln. Festeinband, Halbledereinband der Zeit mit Rückenvergoldung ¶ - Pritzel 6291 - "In 1798, after two years of exile, Mirbel returned to Paris and obtained a post in the Museum of Natural History. The following year he presented a memoir on ferns to the Academy of Sciences and in 1801 and 1802 he submitted a series of articles on the structure of plants and on the seed and embryo. Thus he inaugurated the study of microscopical plant anatomy in France. He showed that the characteristics of the seed and the embryo are identical for all plants of the same natural family, thereby laying the foundations of embryogenic classifications, which are still used. Between 1809 and 1815, in a series of notes and memoirs and in his lectures, Mirbel challenged orthodox opinion by asserting the independence of plant cells in the different tissues. His Elements de physiologie végétale et de botanique (1815), which revealed his talents as a draftsman, contributed to the acceptance of his ideas". (DSB 9 Seiten 418) - Erstausgabe. Berieben, Rücken restauriert, leicht gebräunt - Sprache / Language: Französisch / French -
